New Year Message

Dear Friends,

Let me start by wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and I hope it brings you everything you need.

We had a wonderful family Christmas. All three of the children stayed with us, and then after New Year we were joined by Scott, who is Millie’s fiancé. Millie and Scott get married in July.

The winter here in Nova Scotia has been kind up to now. We have had cold days but not that much snow, which is really appreciated by the dogs as they get to walk on the trail and also for me as I don’t have to do much snow clearing.

I am hoping to bring out a new album in the fall — an album of songs inspired by the people and places in Germany. The working title is Songs in the Key of ‘DE’. The songs were actually recorded in October of 2017, but I want to mix them here in Canada. I’ll keep you posted.

I am considering asking people if they want the album to purchase it in advance (that way I can be sure of getting it done this year), so if that interests anyone please get in touch. The cost would be 20 euros plus postage, and each CD would be numbered and signed.

My sons Fintan and Cormac are hoping to have a breakthrough year. They are spending the month of March in Toronto, doing shows and radio. If you didn’t get a chance to see the first video…although I would find this strange as I showed it to everybody I know at least twice.

Louise and I hope to get our Blue Mind cottage finished this year, or maybe next. Every little job that is done makes a difference and we both can’t wait to wake up to the sight and sound of the sea.

We got to watch Paddington 2 with the kids and loved it. We also watched The Shape of Water, which is so beautiful. But the film of the season was A Star is Born —what a film. Go see it…but its not an easy watch. As I write this today, in about 7 hours, it will be the Golden Globes, and I feel sure many awards will be taken home by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (Editor’s note: this comment did not age well!)

As I write this to you today, I am getting ready for the new tour — my longest and busiest yet. I will be singing new songs and some older songs that have rarely been performed.

Thankyou all so much for allowing me to do what I love.

See you at the shows,

Paul
