Suggestions are that Paul O'Brien's tour was really just a cover for plans to eat his way across Germany and Switzerland in 38 days. Of course there remain skeptics but proof is in the pudding, or the Oxeye Donut, the Jutta Soup, the Stefan Salad, the salmon, oh lord the salmon. And we're just getting started. Many of these culinary curiosities are found in Paul's Blog, many more will appear in what Paul's website engineers suggest will be the largest gallery ever assembled in the Go Left Club's Photo Gallery history. |
To bask in the glory of all of Paul's on tour tasties, you'll need to register via posting in the Blog or Forum.
Would you pick these men out of a police lineup!
Since Paul O'Brien first ventured to Germany in 2009, he's been making beautiful music with two remarkable Hamburg natives — Lars Hansen (above right), on bass, and Heinz Lichius on drums. The pair come highly educated, highly talented and notably successful and Paul is forever over the moon to be sharing a stage with them.
Lars Hansen is a veteran of tours and festivals and numerous albums, radio, TV and theatre productions. His eclectic endeavours include work with Ute Lemper, Ron Ringwood, Inga Rumpf, Cynthia Utterbach, and Freida Williams. Lars lectures electric bass at Hannover University for Music and Drama and Hamburg Konservatorium.
One of Germany's most renowned drummers, Heinz Lichius has worked with a staggering array of artists. He lectures at Hannover University for Music and Drama, at the 'Kontaktstudiengang Popularmusik' of the Hamburg University for Music and Drama and is also visiting professor at Berlin's University of Arts.
Born Irish, raised English, father of three musically talented kids, Paul O'Brien has breathed his own magic into traditional Celtic song, new English folk, Reggae and a folk/pop fusion RockTimes called "broadly appealing and not easily categorized". Paul teaches language, guitar, mandolin, bodhran and holds music workshops with progressive schools.
