An Anniversary and a Wedding
Dear Friends,
Even as I write this post it still seems strange to me that this the 10th year of touring Germany.
It all began back in 2009, when a wonderful man called Michael Behr, from Rotenburg, kindly said he liked my music and would I like to play some shows in Germany. Michael also passed on my Sacred Lines album to Gunther Pauler at Stockfisch Records, who kindly asked me to fly over to Northeim and record an album with them.
That album, Walk Back Home, was recorded in March 2009, and then in October of the same year I performed 12 shows with Uli Kringler on guitar, Lars Hansen on bass, and Heinz Lichius on drums. All three of these wonderful players I am happy to say I still call dear friends.
It has been a heck of a summer for me — a wonderful busy and chaotic one! I was joined by dear friends Michael, Ellen, Lars and Steffi in June to help me work on the house, and then we hosted 11 people in our house in the build-up to our daughters wedding in July.
I am delighted to say I will be joined by guests on the forthcoming tour, a tour that looks very very different to the first one back in October 2010. You can see the dates and details of this tour by clicking here.
Please know when I say thank you, it means far far more than just thank you.
Ten years ago I had made a couple of albums in Canada but was still teaching and playing Irish Music five nights a week. Then everything changed because someone believed in me, and then people like you came to the shows. You have all changed my life, and for that there is no word.
