Hey little butterfly, how do you always stay beautiful?
You’re so very busy, with so much to do and to say
You are but young, but there’s wisdom behind those big blue eyes
I hope you’ll forgive me for not being there every day

I'm sure you have many, and I hope I can tell you the truth
I'll not let a lie from my lips ever darken tomorrow
The world’s going crazy but I know it wont change me and you

And when you spread those wings
All the memories will linger and keep me warm
But until that day, we are in this together, okay?
I don’t want regrets when I've nothing to do and far too much time for to do it
I know a butterfly never can stay for more than a year and a day

We can walk on the sand with no shoes and no socks on our feet
