Whatever I Say
After visiting a school in Switzerland I was contacted by the music teacher Nadia Tremp.
Nadia wanted a song for herself to sing to her husband in place of vows in the marriage service.
I wrote this for her after she sent me an email telling me all the wonderful things about him.
This song is perhaps my most popular song live.
There are many ways for me to tell you how I feel
A ring of gold, a poem ,or a tattooed name
But I have made my choice with song and word and voice
Let my happy tears for you fall like rain
Whatever I say, you hear me
Even when you’re away, you’re near me
You speak my deepest thoughts before I do
We’re gonna stay together, longer than forever
You always knew my only wish was only you
Of course I’ll know there’ll be times when all will seem dark
With many wolves outside our door
But in this house I will be safe even though the walls may shake
You’re my shelter my protector from it all
You can wish upon a star no matter where you are
or throw a penny down a wishing well
For me to make my dreams come true
All I gotta do
Is look you in the eye and say ‘I do’
