As the Day is Long

Never before recorded, this song was written in 2019. My daughter Millie got married to Scott Jay on July 27th, and Millie asked me to write a song for her first dance with Scott. Luckily, I had one ready. I had written another song for her based upon the different colours of her dresses in her life, finishing with the white one at her wedding. The song was called “She’s wearing white.”

After playing it to my wife, I was informed she actually wasn’t wearing white… it was Moscato.
I’m not sure what that is, but it definitely isn’t white.

So a new song had to be quickly written.

“As the day is long” is a common prefix in the English language:
As honest as the day is long
As loving….
As kind….
As happy….

It’s not the first song I have written for you
And I’m pretty sure that it won’t be the last one too
But it’s been done before about daddy’s little girl
Or I loved her first and she always will be my world

So keep on

Looking back now it seems like only yesterday
